Subject- "Why Jesus Christ Was Raised From The Dead"?
Text- 1 Cor 15-12-20
Intro- This chapter is dedicated to the wonderful truth that indeed there is a real resurrection coming for the saints of the Lord. We know and believe this truth, we have no reason not to believe it.
The argument that Paul stresses in this text is if Christ be not risen then there is a lot of problems that result from it... our preaching is vain..vs 14 our faith is vain..vs 14, we are false witnesses..vs 15, we are yet in our sins vs 17, then all our dead loves have perished..vs 18, no hope beyond this life, vs 19 then he proclaims with a loud voice...vs 20 "CHRIST IS RISEN"
When Mary Magdalene came to the tomb the angel said he is not here come see the place where he laid, he is risen and go tell his disciples... He appeared to many after his resurrection the two Emmaus disciples , to his disciples in the upper room, on the shore, he taught them things pertaining to the Kingdom of God Acts chapter one.
He appeared to Saul and converted him after he ascended back to heaven, he appeared to John on the Ile of Patmos ...so why was Christ raised from the dead?
I... HE WAS RAISED NEVER TO DIE AGAIN...
Revelation 1:18 I [am] he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (KJV)
They refused a place for his mother to have him, he was rejected and despised of his own nation, he was wrongfully tried, he was spit upon, he was hailed in a fit of mockery as a king, he was beaten beyond recognition, he was laid in a borrowed tomb, he tomb was guarded by soldiers that no doubt hated him, but God raised him up in order that he would die no more..
That is good news to this sinner this morning, that is good news to those in the grave yards of this world who knew the Lord when they died, Christ is raised from the dead, and I praise his holy name...

II... "HE WAS RAISED TO LAY RIGHTFUL CLAIM UPON HIS UNIVERSAL REIGN AND POWER"...
1ST. Promised to him by the Father in one of the Psalms...
Psalm 2:7-8 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give [thee] the heathen [for] thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession.
2nd. Claimed by Christ immediately after his appearances to his church..
Matthew 28:16-20 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
III... " HE WAS RAISED TO SIT AT THE RIGHT HAND OF HIS FATHER...
Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
This has some meaning also to it...
1st. It meant that his Father was well pleased with his work that he had done.
2nd. It meant that he had fulfilled the law and the prophets.. Matt 5-17
3rd. It meant his work as a redeemer was done on earth...
The old testament High Priest never set down because his work was never done, Christ died once and never will die again..Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us].

IV.. " HE WAS RAISED TO SIT AS A MAN IN HEAVEN FOR US...
1 Timothy 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
In heaven as I speak on this earth in this congregation Christ is in heaven as a man a real man and when he comes back he will come back the way he left..
Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, [which are] the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
V. HE WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD BY THE GLORY OF THE FATHER TO FULFILL HIS MISSION AS OUR SAVIOUR...
His mission was clear...
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
1st. He is the only saviour... Acts 4-12
2nd. He is the only saviour capable of saving sinners.. Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
3rd. He is the only saviour that the Father accepts... John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
VI.. " HE WAS RAISED TO SEAL THE EVERLASTING COVENANT WITH HIS BLOOD..
Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

VI.. " HE WAS RAISED SO THAT HE MAY COME AGAIN ONE DAY"...
1st. Promised by Christ...John 14-1
2ndT. Announced by the angels..
Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
3rd. Confirmed by the writers of the N.T.
Paul said ... " the Lord himself shall descend from heaven: I Thess 4-13
John said .. " Behold what manner of the Love.. I John 3-1-2
Many more scriptures teach Christ is coming again one day.. Are you prepared to meet him, should you die, or should the Lord come today?
