The blessing bestowed upon those who Jesus says are reviled which means reproached is indeed another blessing of the Kingdom. Those stand for the LORD can expected to be reviled. There is no question that it will happen and has happened in the past to the Lord's people. The great thing about these two verses that teach us a lesson is the following. [1.] Rejoice, and that is not easy to do. It is so easy to rejoice when we are in a situation we like and want to stay in it. I read in the Memphis news paper the following quote "If you want to be happy, then just decide to be happy". This is what the Lord is saying, rejoice and again I say rejoice. PS: 33:1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Which means it is what we do. Our joy is in the Lord not in the persecution, the trail, the heartache, or any such thing. Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord away: and again I say, Rejoice. [2.] The promise of the reward is not in this world but the one to come. Not one of us can give an accounting of how heaven will be, but a strongly believe that the reward is the LORD JESUS CHRIST himself. Not that we work to get rewarded, but that it is automatically given us for being his people. [3.] The example he uses, for so persecuted they the prophets that were before us. Many people have suffered great persecution that I have not. And so if so discomfort comes my way to God be the glory for it. May the God of all comfort and grace bless you.
