It usely goes without saying that whatever we are hungry for and whatever we thirst for that is exactley what we get. Of this is in the physcial world. Our verse is speaking of spiritual things. Two things Jesus addesses in this verse (1.) Hunger: do you know what it is to be hungry for the things of God, I sure hope so. It is when we are hungry for the Lord and his word that we will seek after him. Psalm:63:1-5 these verses lay out the clear argument for such as Jesus has set forth in this beatitude. My question for you this morning, are you hungry for the LORD? Pray that you will become a regular eater at the table of Lord. (2.) Thirsty: David in the Psalm above speaks of being so thirsty in a dry land. I prefer to think of the dry land is churches that don't have anything spiritual to offer just etertainment for the flesh. The soul of man needs help, Jesus knew this, David knew this. What about you do you know how important it is to have such a desire for the things of God. I pray that you will if you don't after you read this. (3.) Notice finally the promise of this verse as well as the others, they shall be filled. This is not my promise this is the Lord's promise to everyone who meets the qualification for being filled. Hungrying and thirsting after spiritual things... May the God of all Grace be with through out this day In Jesus name.
