Dear Praying Friends,

Thank you for your prayers for our last trip to Cardenas. Bro. Roger Ragland and I made the trip safely and in good health, for which we thank the Lord. Emotionally, I was not looking forward to this trip at all, since it was to be the occasion when I would inform the brethren there of our upcoming move to Chile, and I would have to preach my "Good-Bye" and perhaps final sermon to that church. I thank the Lord that every day of the trip came with unexpected blessings!

As we drove into town, we passed Fernando on the street, who used to attend with us, but has moved away. He was able to be with us for the Wednesday night service.

One day we drove out to a mountain village with Eduardo and Micaela, to her parents home (my first trip there). On the drive into the village, we picked up 7 little hitchhikers, Pame children, and gave them Gospel literature to take to their parents. A photo of them is attached. They had walked a hour and a half down the mountain from Manzanilla, and through several ranchos in the valley, hitching a ride or walking, selling home-made products. They were unaccompanied by adults, and were 7 to 14 in ages. After a long day, we found them walking home, and still expecting to climb 3 hours up the mountain back home, even in the dark, and fearful of tigers.

Back in Cardenas, after several months of separation, Fidel came seeking reconciliation with Eduardo and with me, and desiring restoration to the church. It was a great joy to me to see this happen before my last service with the church!

Sunday night was my last service with the church. There were many tears in almost every eye. I showed them a picture report of Chile, and then preached my final sermon. The brethren, although evidently saddened, all said that they were happy to see the gospel go to this new and needy field, for the glory of God and the advance of the kingdom. I was able to counsel one about the needs of her soul and her life situation. There were visitors in every service. A photo of the group present at the last service is attached. Please continue to pray that they will soon have a pastor. There are several from sister churches who are taking turns each month to go and preach to the church in Cardenas.

There is much work to be done now. Please uphold us in your prayers! Thank you!

Grace and Peace,
Bro. Danny G. Roten
