Matthew 5:9 "Blessed are the peacemakers; for shall be called the children of God. What a promise coming for the Lord Jesus Christ. All that he says is so filled with great advice, great promises, great wisdom. When he talks about a peacemaker what does he really mean? I would say that it would have to do with the condition of a persons heart. The heart is desperatley wicked and who can know says the bible. So if a heart is made right in the sight of God then it is his or her aim to please Jesus Christ. If that is so, then a person who is saved will want peace in their life and the life of those that they come into contact with. So we might say that a peacemaker is one who loves peace. There is nothing like peace in our hearts with the God that we have offended, there is nothing like peace in the church, peace in the home, and it comes from peace loving people. The Lord is the origin of all peace: Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. Jesus Christ brought us peace with God our heavenly Father: Col 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. Let it be our aim to be peacemakers since we are the children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. Note also the promise he makes, they shall be called the children of God. What a privilege to be a child of God, heir and joint heir with Jesus Christ. Sons of God by divine election and we shall one day by his grace and for his glory learn what it is to be a child of God. God bless and Keep you.
