Series: What Is Salvation?
Subject: “Salvation Is A Work”
Text: Acts 2:23:24
Intro: there can be no question as to who does the work with regard to the salvation that is free, it is the Lord. Christ often in his preaching would make mention of that fact, that he came to do a work.
John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. Every work that Jesus did was leading to that one and eternal work of calvary. All the miracles, all the preaching, all the parables, all the things concerning the Kingdom was leading to this final work of the cross.
I... “ FROM THE GODWARD SIDE: vs 23
That it was a determined work. This was no work that was the last result of God trying certain things and it failed. This was the only work that God the Father intended. It was seen in many of the old testament writings.
There was three main areas in the Old Testament I believe that Christ work was seen by the nation of Israel.
(1.) The passover lamb: Ex 20:12-13
Exodus 12:12‑13 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I [am] the LORD. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye [are]: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy [you], when I smite the land of Egypt.
A. Judgement coming: “ I will pass and smite”
b. Provision made: “ Blood a token”
c. Protection: “When I see the blood”
John the Baptist introduces God’s lamb: John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Paul said: 1 Corinthians 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
(2.) The scape goat: Leviticus 16:7‑9 And he shall take the two goats, and present them before the LORD [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat. 9 And Aaron shall bring the goat upon which the LORD'S lot fell, and offer him [for] a sin offering.
In one the atonement is made and in the other the bearing away of the sins of the people.
1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Literally, it means he bear up our sins in his own body. He carried them away, he scattered them as far as the east is from the west, he will remember them no more at all.
(3.) The suffering servant: Isaiah 50:5‑7 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. 6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. 7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Peter stresses this in his writings:
1 Peter 2:22‑24 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

II... “ THE FROM THE MANWORD SIDE OF HIS DEATH:
Who crucified Jesus? First I want to make it clear, the first point indicates the Father was responsible for his death so that we could be saved. The instrument that God uses is the wicked men...
1st. Judas betrays him:
Matthew 26:47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
Judas had been busy with his deceived heart in getting rid of Jesus. The LORD had said that it would have been better if he would have not been born.
2nd. The Chief leaders wanted it done:
