Sunday Morning

Subject: “ The Divine Secret Revealed”

I have chosen three main text to be the springboard for this mornings message concerning secrets.

Proverbs 3:32 For the froward [is] abomination to the LORD: but his secret [is] with the righteous. (KJV)

Psalm 25:14 The secret of the LORD [is] with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. (KJV)

There is no question to those whom the Lord hath revealed his secrets and he has many, that is, only known to him. It is his right to choose to open some of them up to whom he wills to do so.

If God chooses to show you some divine secret or as it is called in the New Testament “mysteries” we must be faithful to it. That is not to keep it, but rather to tell it.

It is specially true with the ministers of the LORD.. Paul addressed this subject in the Corinthian letter...listen to what he says to the preachers of that era...

1 Corinthians 4:1‑2 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

The word “mysteries” according to the greek lexicon 1c1b) of God: the secret counsels which govern God in dealing with the righteous, which are hidden from ungodly and wicked men but plain to the godly, in rabbinic writings, it denotes the mystic or hidden sense: of an OT saying, of an image or form seen in a vision, of a dream...

Paul said many of the secrets of the Lord were hid... Colossians 1:26 [Even] the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

In such a subject we must remember that while GOD does reveal some things that are secret some he never will reveal... This is what Moses said many years ago...

Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret [things belong] unto the LORD our God: but those [things which are] revealed [belong] unto us and to our children for ever, that [we] may do all the words of this law.

I... “ THERE IS THE SECRET OF THE TRUE SAVIOUR”...

You may have reason to say Pastor how can Christ be a secret? Legitimate question. I will answer it from number of scriptures...

1. The fact that he is hid...

Matthew 11:25‑27 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. 27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].

Look at these verses and tell me Christ is openly known...the Father is likewise hid. Here is the key to understanding the sovereignty of God..verse 26 says it seems good in his sight..

2. The fact of other Jesus’s preached:

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or [if] ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with [him].

This word “ another” means generally denotes simple distinction of individuals,  involves the secondary idea of difference of kind.

3rd. The fact that the gospel is hid:

2 Corinthians 4:3‑4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

No matter how you look at, no matter how one tries to justify free willism, this passage knocks it out. Christ is hid, the gospel is hid, and it takes a divine work of Grace and the Lord to reveal Christ who is hid.

The Apostles were ask by Jesus who do men say that I am? They answer..Matthew 16:14 And they said, Some [say that thou art] John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

Then Jesus refers the question to them: Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

Then Peter answers Christ! Matthew 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Now here is the secret that most people in this city and around the world that has not been yet revealed to them: Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

I wish I could reveal Christ to you today, but I cannot, I can only preach him as the only saviour of fallen men. I can present him as the Bible presents him, I can love him as I am told, I can read about him to you..but the power to reveal Christ to your heart is in the hands of the LORD...not mine, not this church, or no other church.

4th. The fact of the many false idea’s about him prove that he is hid from the masses of people in the world..

Jesse Jackson said in his speech to the national democratic convention some years ago, that Jesus was one of many ways to GOD... not so. Christ said...

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Paul writing to the Ephesian church said these words...

Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

1 Peter 1:21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Christ has never been second to anyone, he has never been a way, he is the way,  a hope he the only hope , a water the water of life, a door the door of entrance only , he has never been a righteousness he is the only righteousness....

This is a secret to this world..

The Mormon Church teaches... That Christ was a spirit son of God, Jesus was Jehovah, the God of the Old Testament. God the Father visited Mary and had marital relations with so that Jesus could be born with a human body. Jesus redeemed all mankind to “general salvation” secured their resurrection from the dead, but exaltation to the celestial kingdom will depend on the celestial kingdom will depend on a person’s zealous and obedient Latter-day saint....

Once again I must reemphasize Paul said if any one preaches another Jesus let them accursed... Galatians chapter one ...

The Bible reveals Christ as the Son of God, God the son, the Son of David, the son of man, the Son of Abraham, speaking both of his humanity and his divinity...

In the first few verses of John 1:1-5

1st. His relationship to God.. “ He was with God” vs 1

In the Old Testament book of Proverbs note this question!

Proverbs  30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell?

2nd. His relationship to creation... vs 3

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The Bible confirms again..

Colossians 1:16‑18 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all [things] he might have the preeminence.

3rd. His relationship to sinners..vs 4-5

John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

The greatest life he gives is eternal life, He himself states clearly and irrevocably in John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.

That beloved John said in his writings... 1 John 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
