The Progressive of our Christian life: By Pastor Jack Duplechain

Matt 5:1-12 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:2  And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, 3 ¶  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.5  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.6  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.7  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.8  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.9  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.10  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.11  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.12  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

This is the greatest expressions of Jesus Christ concerning the entrance into his kingdom. This is not some pie in the sky by and by, but rather a present reality in the life of God’s elect. Those who are made poor in the spirit, which has to do with their soul, are the possessors of the heavenly kingdom. That is they are brought to nothing and have nothing to offer in themselves and Christ saves them. The sinner then mourns over their condition before the Lord and he comforts them. They are made the meek of the earth, and they inherit the earth. They in their Christian life hunger for that which is right and they are filled with the water of life. They are assured that they one day will see their Lord. They essentially are peacemakers because their hearts are peaceable and they want all to share in this peace that passes all understanding. They are the children of God. When they suffer persecution for the Christ they serve it is a blessing to them. They are glad  and count it all joy to suffer for the Kingdom of Christ. My friend this is the lot of the LORD’S people. May the God of grace be with today.
