Devotion By Pastor Jack Duplechain
Mark 1:7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
John the Baptist without question recognizes whom it is that he is the forerunner of. It is none other than the long awaited covenant Son of God. In this text we can see the very heart of the John. No question he is a preacher, no question he had read the Old Testament passage concerning himself and the Messiah. He recognizes his nothingness when compared to the savior the Lord Jesus Christ. It behooves all of us to take a back seat so to speak, and look down on ourselves, and look up to the Lord Jesus Christ. The worthiness of Christ should do several things to us, 1. It should cause us to have a deeper respect for the Lord. 2. It should cause us to humble ourselves in worship and not act like we are at a playhouse when we come into his presence. 3. It should cause us to teach our children of the greatness of Christ compared to all others including ourselves. 4. It should cause us pray more, read more about him, love more, listen more as a Christian. I pray that the Lord will burden all of us to serve him today with a clean heart and mind. May the God of all grace bless you as you read this. Pastor Jack Duplechain. 2 Cor 5:17
