Abiding in Christ

John 15:7 “ If ye abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you . . ."

What marvelous thought. I have for years seen a principle of successful Christianity in this verse. I do not mean successful in the worlds eyes, in your eyes, in the church’s eyes, but in the eyes of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1. To abide in Christ means that you have salvation. This is first and foremost. Salvation is in Christ that cannot be denied. Most will agree to some extent that this is true. But will add to it. I add nothing to it. He alone is the only one that can save you. I am the way the truth and the life saith the Lord Jesus Christ.  (2.) Note the second thing, my words abide in you. This speaks to our hearts of his written word. The words of Christ they spirit and they are life. (3.) It shall, be done unto you, this speaks of faith. Hebrew 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please him. (4.) It shall be done unto you, this speaks of fruit. When we abide in Christ through his word and by the faith that he has given us, it will be a successful Christian life. There will be peas in the storm John 16:33, it affords us a brand new life 2 Cor 5-17. It will produce in us righteousness that does not lead to self righteousness Php 3-9. For this day my friends who read this short devotion, may the God of all grave bless your day.
