May 7th 2007 The presence of the LORD is something that we all need. We know that He is around and we feel His divine assistance all the time. Sin in this verse causes Adam and Eve to hide themselves from the presence of the LORD. They feared His presence, which was a natural reaction. In reality, there is no place to hide from His presence. David said in Psalm 139-7, " Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? " The answer is nowhere. This is true because the LORD is omni-present. As you know, this means everywhere. The saints of God should desire the presence of the LORD because of the great benefits derived from His presence. Sin drives Him away from us and repentance causes Him to draw nigh unto His people. He is present in His assembly, He is present our lives, He is present in our circumstances. We need to do a number of things in His presence. (1.) Humble ourselves: James 4:10, "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. 1Peter 5:6, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." (2.) Hail Him as our King: Matthew 28:9, "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him." (3.) Honor Him as our Lord: Revelation 5:12, " Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing." We must learn when we are awake and our minds are properly working that GOD is near us, and He deserves all the above and more. May the God of all grace bless and keep you.
