Exodus 33:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.
I plan to preach from this text in our church this Lord’s day. But since it has been on my heart I would like to share this with those who read this devotion. It would best serve those of you who read this to read this chapter. The part of this verse that stands out to me, is the part, about Joshua, he departed not out of the tabernacle, the dwelling place of the Lord. There is first of all great strength gain in the house of God, many of the saints dwelled there and poured out their souls to the Lord. How long has it been since you fasted and prayed and poured out your soul to the LORD. This is a question that we all must answer. If we are true to our souls we will see that it has been sometime since this has happened. If you are lacking in your relationship to the Lord maybe you need to tarry at the house of the Lord. Secondly, there is great encouragement in the house of God, encouragement to do his work, to witness to others, and be pleasing to him. Thirdly there are burdens that are lifted in the house of God, and all of us need this at times in our life. The Lord Jesus Christ bowed under the burden of his great task for us his people, dying in our place, paying our sin debt that we could not pay. In the gospel of Matthew chapter 26 toward the end of the chapter you will read of his struggles and the great help he receives from his Father. When is the last time you sought the Lord for revival in your own heart, in your church, when is the last time you prayed for your pastor, and his great work he has on him. Do it now if you have not. May the God of all grace bless all us today as we work for him and to his glory and honor.
