Sunday Night
The Book of Isaiah

Subject- " Walking In The Light Of The Lord"
Text- Isaiah 2-1-5

Intro- Before I get to this subject this evening I wish to say a few things about the verses that we have read. There are many different interpretations concerning these verses, and I am sure that even here tonight that is so.I have carefully and prayerfully looked at these verses from all view points and yet I am convinced that what I am going to say about them is true even though some may disagree. It very clear that this is what Isaiah saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the last days.

1... " That I believe the last days started with ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ"... vs 2

This particular prophecy was quoted by Micah the prophet also in Chapter 4-1-5 Except one statement ...Micah 4:5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.I will come back to this later in the message...back to the thought of the last days...When the day of Pentecost was fully come and the church was baptized with the Holy Spirit and the members filled that day..the Apostle Peter recognized he was in the last days...Acts 2:16-17 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:Paul opens the first chapter of Hebrews with these words...Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

2....The last days would include the establishing of the Lord’s church...vs 2-3 Here the prophet is once again speaking of a time when the old will be done away and the new will come in. The Church was established in Jerusalem and it was lifted above all other religions as indicated by the mountain tops, lifted up so as to be seen by all nations. Jesus when cleansing the Temple which existed as the house of the Lord, said that his house was a house of prayer for all nations, not just Hebrew people....

Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Peter preaching on the day of Pentecost said these words.. Acts 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Daniel 2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

Speaking of Christ and his church and his Kingdom...this has happened already. We are part of it tonight and what a great privilege it is.

3.. The work of those people are also stated.. vs 3 May I remind you that it was from Jerusalem where all this started, it was there where the word of God went forth...Jesus told his disciples just before he went back to heaven these words...Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

4... The result of this ....vs 4 I know there you go with that wearied interpretation again...but just listen to me for a moment, back in Micah 4:5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever. This verse is not speaking of a total abandonment of war in this present world but rather speaking of the results of what happens when the Lord Jesus Christ takes over the hearts of men and women. It brings about an inward peace that causes men to cease from warring. A peaceable habitation of nations.... I do believe that the only way that this will be fulfilled to its entirety would be in the eternal state of the Lord righteous kingdom...Which brings me to my message for this evening..

I... "THE GREAT APPEAL MADE BY ISAIAH.. VS 5 " Oh house of Jacob....Come...

There is a great deal in the Bible about making appeals to people and especially to the Lords people to come. But I am afraid that many have been led to believe that come to the Lord means come to a certain place...do a certain thing, but it is an appeal to come to the Lord...a real person. So I make that appeal over and over again each time I preach.

II... NOTE WHAT THE APPEAL IS ..VS 5 " WALK IN THE LIGHT OF THE LORD..

Darkness is a horrible thing and yet man are in darkness tonight as we speak...Darkness is in the souls of people and in some of the people of the Lord. 1st. To walk in the light of the Lord is to walk in God himself for he is light. John 12:35-36 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

Then in another verse he said these words..

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

2nd. To walk in the light of the Lord is to walk in his word for his word produces light that guides our paths...Psalm 119:105. Thy word [is] a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

3rd. To walk in the light of the Lord is to walk in a shining path which glows for the people of the Lord...Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just [is] as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

The song writer says... "Come ye that love the Lord and let our joys be know we marching through Emmanuel vein, we marching through Emmanuel vein to fairer worlds on high to fairer worlds on high, and the course goes... we marching to Zion beautiful beautiful Zion we marching upward to Zion that beautiful city of God...

4th. To walk in the light of the Lord is to be willing to submit to its disciplinary action it takes on us..

Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life:
