The Book of Isaiah
Sermon # 106
Subject: “God’s Charges Laid To The Wicked”
Text: Isaiah 57-3-14
Intro: The Lord completed his message concerning the death of the righteous and how they will die in peace and that the world took it not to heart. The reality of the death of the wicked is likewise coming...
One of the things that goes through the mind of wicked men and women is that they will never answer or face the LORD for they are doing..Psalms 10:13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
There end will come: Psalms 37:20 But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.
I... “ THE SUMMONS”...VS 3
This word “draw near” is not a request from the LORD it is a command it is imperative that they come before the bar of GOD’S judgement and listen to the charges he brings against them.
In the greek it is the same: James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
We must remember that in life GOD commands men to repent, all men, Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
The great problem is sinners outside divine intervention will not repent and will not draw night to the LORD. There is coming a day when they will have no choice, they will not be able to run or to hide they will be drawn by GOD’S overpowering power to bow to him and listen to the charges. Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

II... “ THE CHARGES HE CHARGES THEM WITH”.... VS 3-11
When GOD says something it is true, there is no rebuttal, there is no acquittal, there is no changing of GOD’s charges it is final.
1st. They were seed of the harlot...vs 3
What we see in this charge is they were the fruits of the wickedness of those that bore them... they were following the footsteps of their parents. They committed both physical adultery and spiritual adultery. One leads to the other. Their parents had forsaken the living LORD for the gods of the heathen as we will see.
The very first charges that was brought against them as a nation was that they were seed of evil doers.
Isaiah 1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.
2nd. They were mockers: vs 4
These are common jesters of the mouth especially of children they get mad then they stick out the tongue at you. They were mockers of the word of GOD the men of GOD...
Isaiah 28:14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.Isaiah 28:22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
Job said:
Job 16:10 They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.
It was said of Christ
Psalms 22:7 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

3rd. They were intoxicated with Idols and all that went along with it: vs 5-9
Jeremiah made the same charge against them:
Jeremiah 50:38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
There madness and their intoxication with idols led them to many more sins of the flesh. These were the children of the evil doers and seed of the wicked ones. They had no shame nor respect for the word of GOD and what he was going to do to them.
A. They had idols under every green tree, and in the valley it is said there they offered their children to Molech...
Leviticus 18:21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. Deuteronomy 12:31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
2 Kings 21:6 And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger. 2 Kings 23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
B. They took some of the sacred offerings of the LORD and offered them to the gods of the heathens...vs 6-7
c. They committed whoredoms which was associated with idolatry vs 8-9
III... “ THE CONCLUDING REMARKS OF THE LORD”...VS 10
1st. They have done all this to no avail..vs 10
It has wearied them and yet they still don’t see it. They did not repent and they were not grieved with their sins.

Jer 2: 25 Withhold thy foot from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst: but thou saidst, There is no hope: no; for I have loved strangers, and after them will I go.
2nd. They did not fear the LORD in all their sins: vs 11
a. They lied...
The ultimate end of a liar is hell: Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
B. They did not remember the LORD...vs 11
Listen to me tonight it behooves all of here tonight to remember the LORD not to forget him lest we stray and go after other gods... Solomon said it is best to remember the LORD when we are young...
Eccl 12-1 ¶ Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
c. They feared not the LORD...vs 11
Eccl 12: 13 ¶ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Next we will pick up in verse 12
