Sunday Night

Subject: “GOD CALL TO REMEMBRANCE”

Text- Isaiah 44:21-28

Intro: One of the great things that GOD has given us in our created bodies is the ability to remember. I know that many of us joke about not being able to remember things; but if you evaluate what you do remember it should cause us to praise GOD for such a gift.

We choose not to remember some things because they hurt us, or some things rebuke us, or some things bring joy. The nature of the human mind is to forget the things that are good for us, and remember the things that are not write for us.

In this text we see some things that are well worth remembering... Also the New Testament encourages us to remember:

a. The Rich man was told to remember his past life after he was in hell: Luke 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

b. Jesus told us to : Remember Lots wife- Luke 17:32

c. Remember where he brought us from: Ephesians 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye [being] in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

There are many more things but I want to get into the text:

I... “ REMEMBER THAT THOU ART MY SERVANT: VS 21

We should never forget that we are the servants of the living LORD. As servants we should do a number of things:

1. Obey our master.

2. Do his will.

3. See to his work.

The Lord Jesus Christ was a servant and as our LORD and MASTER he set the example for us to follow...

Philippians 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

II... “REMEMBER THAT IT IS HE THAT CREATED US: VS 1

Psalm 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he [is] God: [it is] he [that] hath made us, and not we ourselves; [we are] his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

David said:

Psalm 139:13‑16 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, [and] curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.  16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.

A. He was wonderfully made:

b. That all our members are in his book:

The great wonder of this, “when as yet there was none of them” this tells us that GOD keeps up with all that conceived in the womb of its mother. This is why abortion is murder in the most cruel form.

III... “ REMEMBER THAT THE LORD WILL NOT FORGET US: VS 21

Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

1. The Lord will not forget because we are his people: Psa 100

2. The Lord will not forget because he loves us: Rev 1-5

3. The Lord will not forget us because he cannot go back on his word: Titus 1-2

4. The Lord will not forget us because of the LORD JESUS CHRIST:

John 17:9‑10 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. 10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

IV... “ REMEMBER THAT YOUR SINS HAVE BEEN BLOTTED OUT: VS 22

The greatest news that we can rely on, the eternal and everlasting LORD hath forgiven our sins and blotted them out as a thick cloud.

1. He does not remember our sins because of his own sake:

Isaiah 43:25 I, [even] I, [am] he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

2. He does not remember our sins because he hath redeemed us:

1 Corinthians 6:19‑20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

V... “ REMEMBER ALL THAT THE LORD HATH DONE”..VS 23-27

John Gill Said about this verse:

Shout, ye lower parts of the earth; the earth, which is low in comparison of the heavens; the inhabitants of it, especially the Gentiles, which dwelt in the lower parts of the world, in comparison of Judea, which lay high:

break forth into singing, ye mountains; kings and great men of the earth, like the strong and lofty mountains:

O forest, and every tree therein; the multitude of the common people; see #Isa 10:18,19 these are called upon to express their joy...

I am inclined to believe this interpretation.... simply for the reason that mountains, trees, can not sing, have know joy of expression, don’t get me wrong they declare the glory of GOD by their beauty and design... but this verse is speaking of when God shall bring about the freedom of Judah from captivity.

Note with me: what he does to the different people:

1. He frustrates the liar..vs 25

2. He makes the diviners mad..vs 25

3. He turns the wise men backwards..vs 25

He does this by making their wisdom folly...

4. He confirms the word of his men...vs 26

5. He performs the counsel of the messenger..vs 26

Next we will study Cyrus
