The Book of Isaiah
Subject- “ The Reign of the Gospel of Grace”
Text- Isaiah 25:6-12
Intro- This perhaps is not so easily seen by the casual reader of these verses, that is the reign of the Messiah’s Kingdom of grace through the gospel of Christ. To my surprise not one commentary that I looked at concerning this passage thought otherwise.
Rarely do you get men to agree in writing on a text as these did. John Gill, Matthew Henry, Jamison Fauset & Brown, Young, all say that is speaking of the reign of the Lord Jesus Christ in his Kingdom of Grace and glory.
I... NOTE FIRST WITH ME WHO IT IS THAT HE DECLARE’S WILL MAKE THIS FEAST...VS 6
The Lord himself..
The promise of the Lord beginning his church and his kingdom work was mentioned in the very beginning of this book...
Isaiah 2:2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, [that] the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
II... THAT IT WAS TO BE FOR ALL PEOPLE... VS 6
This is not a new thing to us, but to the Jews it was, they did not mix well at all with other peoples...
Isaiah 56:7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices [shall be] accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

The Lord Jesus quotes this when he came into the Temple court and found them merchandising the Lords house.
Daniel confirmed it in his visison...
Daniel 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed.
The joy of this great and eternal reign of Christ through his church in his spiritual kingdom was announced by angels..
Luke 2:10‑11 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
III.. THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE A FEAST OF FAT THINGS...VS 6
Feast does not always mean literally eating food, in the Bible often it has to do with the intake of spiritual things..let me establish that.
1st. Feast..
Psalm 22:26‑27 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever. 27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
In another Psalm David speaks of tasting the Lord which is to feast upon him not in a literal sense but spiritual..
Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.
Peter Said..Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the LORD [is] good: blessed [is] the man [that] trusteth in him.

2. Feast of fat things..
This also is not to be taken in literal sense that the Lord was going to set a table with fatty meats and such like things...
Isaiah 55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for [that which is] not bread? and your labour for [that which] satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye [that which is] good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
Jeremiah 31:14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.
3. The wines on the lees are to be understood of the best that they had...
Let me tell you tonight that the gospel does for the soul of man in bringing in joy and fatness than anything I know of on this earth. Nothing like, no feast can fully describe it, it is true fatness and it is true joy.
IV... THE PROMISE OF REMOVING THE OBSTACLE SO THAT ALL NATIONS COULD SEE AND ENJOY THE FEAST OF THE GOSPEL..VS 7
1ST. The gospel destroys that which hides the true nature of man..
We have seen this time and time again in the bible where the Lord would have the gospel preached and the true nature of the sinner is revealed. In was like that when the Apostle Paul who had been part of the murder of Steven now was being confronted by the Lord himself and all was being stripped from him... Acts 9
2nd. The gospel destroys that which hides the true nature of God..
Once again using Paul’s words in his conversion..
Acts 9:6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
V... HOW IS ALL THIS DONE... VS 8
Page # 4
1. The promise of it... “he will destroy death”..vs 8
This is what Christ did for his people...
1 Corinthians 15:55‑57 O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? 56 The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law. 57 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2nd. How did he do this?
Hebrews 2:14‑15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
3rd. The unending results of this... “ wipe away all tears..
Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
