Sunday Night

The Book of Isaiah

Subject- “ The Glory of All The House”

Text- Isaiah 22-20-25

Intro- In the last message that we spoke on from this text we seen how this man Eliakim was a type of the Lord Jesus Christ in a number of ways, not all as we will see in the conclusion of this chapter. He was a type in that he Chosen by the Father to be a servant..vs 20 so was the Lord Jesus Christ Isaiah 41. He was a type in that he was committed all the government...so was the Lord Jesus Christ Isaiah 9.

He was a type in that he was given the key of the house of David so was the Lord Jesus Christ given the key of the house of David...Revelation 3-7. He was a type of the Lord Jesus Christ in that he was the sovereign with the key, so was the Lord Jesus Christ.

He was a type in that he was fastened as a nail in a sure place, so was the Lord Jesus Christ fastened to the cross by the father as a surety for his people. That brings us to the subject of this evening being Eliakim was given all the glory of his fathers house..vs 24 so was the Lord Jesus Christ..

We must be willing to believe that there is not anything that can, that will succeed in its attempts to overthrow Christ from the high position he has been given by the Father. We spoke briefly on this on wed night but I will share it with you again...

Ephesians 1:22 And hath put all [things] under his feet, and gave him [to be] the head over all [things] to the church,

I believe the church of God to be the house of God and Christ has all the glory of it and we will try to establish that this evening...

1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. Hebrews 10:21 And [having] an high priest over the house of God;

1 Peter 4:17 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God? So then we see at least three verses that teach that the Lords church is the house of God.

I... “ HE BEARS THE GLORY OF THE FATHERS HOUSE BECAUSE HE WAS CHOSEN BY THE FATHER TO BE THE BUILDER OF IT...

Zechariah 6:12‑13 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name [is] The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: 13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

There is no question that the church is referred to in the bible also as a temple and as the temple of the Lord we offer sacrifices of praise to our head and King the Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

No one can doubt that this text is referring to the church of God which is at Corinth which was made up believers who had been scripturally baptized and formed into a church of the Lord Jesus Christ

Ephesians 2:19‑20 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner [stone];

II... “CHRIST IS FIXED AS A NAIL IN A SURE PLACE AS THE GREAT MANAGER OF THE HOUSE OF THE LORD...

1ST. There is a irreversible decree that declares that..

Psalm 2:6‑7 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

We all know if we don’t we should that whatever God hath decreed he will carry it out, and nothing can change or overthrow it. The writers of the bible declare that often...

Ecclesiastes 3:14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth [it], that [men] should fear before him.

2nd. He is fixed as the administrator of the affairs of the house bound by the covenant of grace.

Psalm 89:3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, this is deeper than just a covenant with David but with the son of David the Lord Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 55:3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, [even] the sure mercies of David.

This covenant was confirmed by the Lord Jesus Christ when he died and rose again .

Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

III.... “ALL THE GLORY OF THIS GREAT HOUSE OF GOD THE CHURCH OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DEPENDS UPON CHRIST THE HEAD OF IT...

It does not depend upon me, it does not depend upon you, upon your abilities, nor inabilities, it hangs solely upon Christ....

1st. His presence with us makes it glorious...

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Nothing was really glorious about the Temple of the O.T. until the glory of the Lord filled the house, thus being an thing to do Christ fills his house on the day of Pentecost....a glorious display of his power...

2nd. His word makes it glorious...Psalm 68:11 The Lord gave the word: great [was] the company of those that published [it].

His word is our only rule for our faith and for our practice. We would really have no reason to meet if we did not have this wonderful book called the Bible. It leads us, it instructs, it rebukes us, it clears up matters for us, it reveals Christ and his great purpose, it edifies us.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

3rd. The gospel being dispensed by faithful ministers of his word make the church glorious...

1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

Galatians 1:15‑16 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called [me] by his grace, 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
