The Book of Isaiah
Subject- “ The Prophecy Against Egypt”
Text- Isaiah 19-11-17
Intro- This is the second message on Egypt it is the continuing prophecy that the man of God Isaiah was given to proclaim against them. In the previous verses we seen how the Lord was to invade Egypt, how that he turned them against each other in a civil war.
We seen the devastation of their spirits melting with fear...we seen their futile attempt with their Idols to find an answer to what was going on. They were given over to a cruel King, they were made slaves, their waters failed them..
Their brooks dried up, and wither away, the trades from the water died, and all the fish died. God invaded them and left them like drunk men staggering through the streets...The Pharaoh finds no answer in his wise men, they become fools, they are brutish which means foolish.
The man of God ask some profound questions....
Verse 12— Where are the wise, let them tell ye what the Lord hath purposed upon Egypt...listen Isaiah says and I will tell thee what it is the Lord hath purposed upon Egypt...
I..... “ HE HATH PURPOSE A PERVERSE SPIRIT IN THE MIDST OF EGYPT”...VS 14-15
What this means is that the Lord mixed a distorting spirit in the midst of these people, their leaders, their so called wise mean, God did not Isaiah, not anyone but the Lord...
I Kings 22-20-23
It is difficult sometimes for us to admit that God such things and yet he does and it is not sin to him as it would be to you and I. What this did in Egypt?
1st. It causes them to err..vs 14
2 Thessalonians 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
Isaiah 30:27‑28 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning [with] his anger, and the burden [thereof is] heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and [there shall be] a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing [them] to err.

2nd. It has an effect upon their work...all of it both civil and religiously...
The influence of the sin of error upon any people always spills over into their every day life. It fills the home, the job, the business, the government, and even the church. The bible is clear that even the people of God do err...
Hebrews 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in [their] heart; and they have not known my ways.
Err comes as the result of not knowing the word of God that is the people of the Lord not knowing it....Mark 12:24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
3rd. It leaves them as a drunk man... “ staggering in his own vomit”...vs 14
Job 12:23‑25 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them [again]. 24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness [where there is] no way. 25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like [a] drunken [man].
II.... “HE CAUSES GREAT FEAR TO COME UPON THEM LIKE WOMEN WHO ARE CAUGHT IN A HOSTILE SITUATION...VS 16-17
Women are not made to do some of things that God has created men for. War is one of them, leadership in the midst of great trails, because the woman is the weaker vessel therefore she will fear...
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with [them] according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
The Lord shakes his hand over the country of Egypt and it will render a shaking in their hearts and Judah name will cause great fear...vs 17Psalm 48:6 Fear took hold upon them there, [and] pain, as of a woman in travail.
Note the surety of this.... “ God hath determined it” God does determine things let us look at a few of them..
1. A King is told...2 Chronicles 25:16 And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that [the king] said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

2. Our days are determined...
Job 14:5 Seeing his days [are] determined, the number of his months [are] with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
3. It was determined that Christ be betrayed...
Luke 22:22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed!
Acts 4:27‑28 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
