The Book of Isaiah
Subject- “The Sufficiency of God’s Word”
Text- Isaiah 9-20
Intro- In this age of high tech, in this age of supposed great and new translations of the bible, I find it necessary to defend the what we call the KJV as an accurate translation of the Inspired word of the Lord.
Also I find it necessary to speak to this subject because the increase of doubt to the sufficiency of the word of the LORD. The bible will outlast all books, all so-called prophecies, all new revelations, the Bible will outlast any new age movement, it will outlast all cults and their so-called God sent leaders.
Paul declares .....
1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
That which is perfect is the completed word of the Lord, therefore making it sufficient for us God’s people and the Lords Church....I would like time permitting to give you a few of my observations over the years as a preacher of the gospel and my years of studying this book...
I..... “ IT IS SUFFICIENT BECAUSE IT TEACHES EVERYTHING THAT WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOD...
1...It declares that he is eternal...Psalm 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God.
2...It reveals the fact that he is infinite...1 Kings 8:27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
3...It clearly reveals he is sovereign...Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things of old: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else; [I am] God, and [there is] none like me,
4...It affirms his omnipotence...Jeremiah 32:27 Behold, I [am] the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
As you can it really opens up the truth concerning the God that we serve and love..it is indeed sufficient....

II.... IT IS SUFFICIENT FOR THE REVEALING OF MAN ....
The Bible like no other book of the world, never eulogizes man, it never promotes him, and never praises him for his achievements...Instead it declares the following about men...
1... The best we can do is vanity...Psalm 39:5 Behold, thou hast made my days [as] an handbreadth; and mine age [is] as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state [is] altogether vanity. Selah.
2... The best righteousness he can produce is as filthy rags..Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
3... The fruit that flows from the heart is never good....Mark 7:21‑23 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?
III... IT IS SUFFICIENT IN ITS REVELATION OF SIN AND WHAT IT DOES TO THE CREATION OF GOD....
Man regards sin is a mere misfortune, and he ever seeks to hide it, make up for it, justify it, rationalize, some have denied the very existence of it..but the word of the Lord tells us plainly about it, warns of the consequences of it, and declares in practice the reality of it and what it has done.
1st.. Sin is very grievous...Genesis 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
2nd.. Sin provokes the Lord..1 Kings 16:2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;
3rd.. Sin is deceitful..Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
4th.. Sin is lawlessness...1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Sin without question is always against God and the Lord Jesus Christ..David said in his confession of his adultery and murder of Bethasheba husband these words..

Psalm 51:4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done [this] evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, [and] be clear when thou judgest.
1 Corinthians 8:12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
The Lord help us his people to realize that when we break Gods law we grieve him we sin against our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for what we are and what we have done to him.
IV... THE BIBLE IS SUFFICIENT BECAUSE IT REVEALS GODS PURPOSE TO SAVE A PEOPLE...
1ST.. We are saved by the grace of the Lord...
Salvation by grace is the only way God ever saved anyone....
a. Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord..Genesis 6-8
b. Peter to the church at Jerusalem ...said we are saved by the grace of Christ...Acts 15.11
No one here needs to be convinced that we are saved by grace we know it theologically, we know it experimentally, and rest upon that fact...we believe it by faith.
Eph 2-8-10
2nd. We are assured salvation by the purpose of God...
Ephesians 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
2 Timothy 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
3rd. We are sealed by the Holy Spirit...
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
4th. We are reciptants of the redeeming work of Christ at Calvary...
A. Redeemed from the curse of the Law...

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:
b. We were redeemed by his blood..
1 Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers;
We can sing about it, we can preach about it, we can tell others about it..Christ hath done it all for us...
Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Revelation 14:3‑4 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, [being] the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
