The Book of Isaiah
Subject- “God’s Judgement On Ahaz”
Text- “ Isaiah 7-17-25
Intro- In the last study the first part of this chapter, we seen how that God had revealed to Ahaz that Ephraim and Syria were not going to survive as a nation...vs 8-9 We seen also that Isaiah had been commissioned by God to preach to Ahaz the word of the Lord and he refuses to Listen and obey it..vs 12 then we saw that Isaiah said what you have done is invite the wrath of God upon you and upon the nation of Judah...vs 13
Then he declares to him that because of the promise of the Lord concerning the birth of Jesus Christ our saviour not all of Judah will die God will preserve a remnant in order to fulfill his promise to the house of David...vs 14-16
I.... “ THE INSTRUMENT THAT GOD WILL USE..VS 17-19
1ST.. The surety of the event..... “ The LORD shall bring”
This makes this event as sure as if it had already happened and in the mind of God it indeed had occurred. How many times in the Bible do we find, that the Lord has spoken something like this and it happened just like he said...
Deuteronomy 4:27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.
Joshua 7:25 And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
There is some 182 verses in the Bible that teach that God says something and then he carries that out, he is not like mere man...
Isaiah 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, [so] shall it stand:
Jeremiah 4:28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken [it], I have purposed [it], and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
So there is enough Biblical evidence that whatever God has said that is what he will do and he will not back out of, nor will he change his mind...for he is immutable.

2nd. “ That which he will use in the accomplishment of it...vs 18-19
Now I know that God can use real bee’s if he pleases to do so, but bee’s in this text represent the Assyria nations because of their swiftness and warlike aggression....we know that these are Physical nations and not bee’s and fly’s for it was the Assyrians that accomplished this prophecy against Judah and Israel.
Listen to what God said about the Amorites...
Deuteronomy 1:44 And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, [even] unto Hormah.
You let a bunch of bee’s get after you and you will understand the awful pain and destruction that they can induce upon you.
Psalm 118:12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Wherever there is a hole to hide in, wherever there is a bush to hide behind, wherever there is a desolate Valley this swarm of the Assyria nation there they will park themselves waiting for the probe of God to make them do as he has declared.
Lesson from these verses to learn if we don’t know it...
1. That God is Sovereign in all the earth....
This is a comfort for the people of God that follow him and it is a terror for those who do not follow him...
2. That whatever chastisement that God has brought upon this nation it can be far greater if so pleases..
Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in [his] goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
3. That whatever mercy that God has given us as his chosen people it does not come with any immunity from his wrath when we deliberately sin against him as individual or as a church.
Numbers 32:23 But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

II.... “ THE RAZOR OF THE LORD UPON JUDAH..VS 20-25
The language of the Bible is like no other book, it can be gentle, such as times it uses terms and symbolic language as gentle dew, the morning cloud, the gentle dove, and the wonderful daybreak of a risen sun after a great storm.
Also we see God using the Iron, the lightning, the earthquake, the flood, and many such like things. In this verse he uses the sharpness of the razor...In the biblical times the beard remained uncut, and was only shaven when a time of mourning and humiliation.
The razor was often used as a suggestive symbol...David said to Doeg the edmoite
Psalm 52:1‑3 Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God [endureth] continually. 2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. 3 Thou lovest evil more than good; [and] lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
So it is my conclusion that Assyria is the hired razor that the Lord will shave off the beard so to speak of Judah and bring her to shame by this heathen nation. Never underestimate the means that the Lord uses to accomplish his purpose.
The change that is inflicted upon Judah , they are reduced from a great Vine producing nations to handful of men that become headsman...vs 23-25
