Series: “Jesus Christ the Sum & Substance of The bible”

Subject: “The Confidence of Job In The Redeemer”

Text: Job 19: 25-27

Intro: I have studied this passage many times, I have studied this book many times also. I have written a Theological Thesis on this book. I have preached sermons about what Job believed, but this ancient declaration of Job’s confidence int eh Lord is overwhelming to say the least.

A man that had vertially lost eveything, that was precious to him. His children, his wife, his friends, his flocks and herds, his gold and silver, his prestiege but he didn’t loose his confidence in the LORD as the one that would deliver him one day.

In this message this morning look to the Christ of this text if you need to be delivered from sin, from cricumstances, from trooubles that plague your heart Christ is the answer. Job knew and declared it to his accusers.

I... “ HE HAD CONFIDENCE IN A PERSONAL REDEEMER” VS 25

“ My redeemer” Many saints knew of God as their redeemer: Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

The word “redeemer” means one who would perform a work that would ramson a soul from something. Christ no doubt is the great redeemer: Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Paul said of Christ: Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

In order to be a redeemer one had to give himself and Christ did that without question: Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

This confidence that Job had in the Lord Jesus Christ was seen in his many statements he made concerning the LORD: Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

The great question my friends this morning is, do you have confidence inteh redeemer the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Can you ask the question were is he?

Isaiah 63:11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, [and] his people, [saying], Where [is] he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where [is] he that put his holy Spirit within him?

1st. The price of redeemption has been fully paid: 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

It is said in: Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

2nd. The great need of a redeemer:

He is needed because we are in bondage to sin, self, and lost and we cannot redeem ourselves. How important it is for you and I to know how bad we need Christ for salvation, for service, and for eternity.

As Job had confidence in the Redeemer we must likewise trust in him. Listen to what Paul said:Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

II... “ JOB WAS CONFIDENT THAT HIS REDEEMER LIVETH AT THE PRESENT TIME:

Jesus Christ has been the only saviour of fallen sinners. It is said that Moses trusted in him. It is said that the King saw the Lord Jesus Christ walking in the midst of the fiery furnace with the Hebrew Children.

In the discussion at Jerusalem: Acts 15:10-11 Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

The Lord said he was the Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Job had confidence in the Lord and expressed it over and over again: Job 23:1-5 Then Job answered and said, 2 Even to day [is] my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning. 3 Oh that I knew where I might find him! [that] I might come [even] to his seat! 4 I would order [my] cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. 5 I would know the words [which] he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

Jesus said to John: Revelation 1:17-18 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I [am] he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

III... “ HE HAD CONFIDENCE THAT HIS REDEEMER ONE DAY WOULD MAKE AN APPEARANCE ON EARTH” ..

It is clear when this would happen, the latter day.

John 1:14-16 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. 16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

1st. He appeared like no other one:

Matthew 2:9-11 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

2nd. He appeared to take away sin:

Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Luke 2:12-14 And this [shall be] a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

(KJV)

John the Baptist said: John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

IV... “ JOB’S CONFIDENCE IN THE MESSIAH’S REDEMPTION WAS SO GREAT THAT HE BELIEVED HE WOULD SURVIVE DEATH” VS 26

What hope Christ has put into the hearts of people that know him as their redeemer. Without him woe would have no hope at all.

Paul tells of what we will be raised like

1 Corinthians 15:42 So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

1 Corinthians 15:43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

1 Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

Do you have this hope this morning, I do. I believe it one day I will survive death terrible grip on my body...

1 Corinthians 15:51-56 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 55 O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? 56 The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law. 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

V.. “ JOB’S CONFIDENCE WAS IN THAT REALITY THAT HE WOULD SEE THE LORD FOR HIMSELF”..VS 27

What a joy to preach to you this morning and let you know the truth of these prophectical words, no wonder Job cried out and said “OH THAT MY WORDS WERE NOW WEITTEN! OH THAT THEY WERE PRINTED IN A BOOK”

1ST. Christ promised us we would see him:

John 14:19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

2nd. The angels proclaimed this truth:

Acts 1:11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

3rd. We shall see as he is:

1 John 3:1-3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4th. John the beloved said:

Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they [also] which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

VI... “ JOB’S CONFIDENCE IN CHRIST WAS SO FIRM THAT HE SAYS HE WILL SEE NO OTHER”..VS 27 “ NO ANOTHER”

It will be the Lord himself:

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
