Sunday Morning
Series: “Christ The Sum & the Substance of The Bible”
Subject:
Text: Jude 1-14-21
Intro: This is one of those passage that receives unfavorable remarks concerning the words that say “Enoch the seventh from Adam prophesied of these” there is a fact stated within this phrase that is absolute truth, not that the other isn’t... So on the premise that this part is true seventh from Adam: Adam, Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahaleel, Jared, Enoch... then we conclude that his prophesy is true even though it was not written back then...
I... THE FACT STATED: “ THE LORD COMETH”
I do not believe that there is any reason to believe that he is not coming when the bible is filled with plenty of verses to establish this cardinal truth. Note that he is said to be coming with “TEN THOUSANDS OF HIS SAINTS” is this a literal number or is it a number that is a numberless multitude?
This numberless multitude is not only departed saints, but even his holy angels will escort him back to this earth. Mt 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
MH says and I quote “ The LORD cometh with his holy myriads, including angels and the spiritus of just men made perfect”.
Even in the prophetic parts of the BIBLE Christ is the sum and the substance of it. Re 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Barnes says “ The design of prophecy is to bear testimony to Jesus. The language does not mean, of course, that this is the only design of prophecy, but that this is its great and ultimate end.”
Jesus is coming are you ready? Jesus is coming are you saved? Jesus is coming will you be ashamed at his coming? Jesus is coming again, what a blessed day for the saved and the departed ones.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Jesus is coming and men shall fear him greatly: Revelation 6-12-17
The Lord is coming in hour ye think not: Lu 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. The Lord is coming and it will not overtake us: 1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that, that day should overtake you as a thief. The Lord is coming and when he comes ever eye shall see him:
Re 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
II... THE FINALITY OF HIS COMING:
Re 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
Once Jesus comes that is it. Not only will there be no time, there will no salvation, no mercy, no kindness, no healing, no light, no appeals, no help, nothing and no one will be there for you who are lost.
The finality of his coming is seen in why he is coming:
(1.) To execute judgement: vs 15
It was given to him by his Father: Joh 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Ps 96:13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
Paul & Peter said: 2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 1Pe 4:5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
(2.) To execute judgement on the lost: vs 15
Every thing that these have done is evil because they are evil. Herein lies the final chapter of mankind and all his estate..think of it this is the end but it is the beginning of the endless eternity forever.
Rev 20-11 ¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
What should we take from this message? To the saved then to the Lost
(1.) Consider how bless we are:
Ps 65:4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
Ro 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Jesus said: Matt 5-3 ¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
If you are saved this morning bless his name, if you are saved today know this day will a day of great joy, if you are saved today know today that Christ is coming to be glorified in us and we in him.. Know today if you are saved we have no reason to dread this day unless it is for our lost love ones and friends... Christ is coming what a day that will be...
If you are lost
(1.) Consider where you will be this day!
This is not a horror movie, this is absolute reality. This is not what man says for the bible says in Ro 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
This is not what your parents came up with or someone else to scare you, this is reality at it’s finality. Will you give it your utmost attention. If you appear lost at this judgement day it will be to late for you. Your home will be the endless, lightless, eternal darkness day. This is day when no excuse, no remedy for pain, no second chances nothing it is all over.
Consider it now ..
(2.) Consider Christ:
Heb 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. Now is time to fall on Christ for mercy. Is the Lord calling you now, then come to him. Come as you are, come without price, come without religion, come without excuse just come now. If Jesus comes today how will it be with you? How will it be with me? Can we say with the aged John these words:
Rev 22-20 ¶ He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
