Sunday Morning
Series: Christ he Sum and Substance
Subject: “God Glorified Through Jesus Christ”
Text: I Pet 4-11
Sermon # 115
Intro: The bible has much to say about the glorifying of our God who is our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Before we speak to the text let us look at few things the bible says about glorifying the Lord.
The word “glorify” means in Hebrew and in Greek, to give or bring honour due unto him.
Jesus prayed to his Father with respect to glorifying : Joh 12:28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
Jesus prayed again and said: Joh 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
We also know that according to the words of Christ that he had eternal glory with the Father: Joh 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
God does not need us to glorify himself listen to the words of the aged John the Apostle of Christ: Re 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
In this text verse we see a number of things:
I.. “ THAT GOD IS GLORIFIED WHEN GIFTS THAT HE HAS GIVEN IS PROPERLY USED IN THE OPERATION OF THEM:

Oracles of GOD, are the divine utterances that a man speaks from the word of GOD such as preaching and teaching the word. Ministers: let him do it according to the ability GOD gave him...
(1.) Minister the word no doubt is a gift of GOD..
It is without doubt the greatest gift a man can have, that is ministering the word to the saints of GOD... Paul told Timothy to: 2Ti 1:6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
So many preachers have failed to stir up the gift that GOD has put in them and they loose it’s power and ability. The word “STIR UP’ means to inflame one mind by strength and zeal.
Paul said concerning ministering the word through preaching: 1Co 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power
(2.) Ministering the word must be done properly: Eph 4-29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
God has a purpose in ministering the word... to call lost sinners to himself, and the other to edify his saints... the word edify means to build them up. Paul in ministering the word to the Ephesians Elders said these words to them: Ac 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
(3.) Ministering the word must be done in truth and love: Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
I know that I have not always done this but I have made an effort to do it, when I fail the LORD forgive me, we must minister what we understand to be the word of truth in love and understanding that all people will not see it the way we do.

II.. THESE ABILITIES THAT GOD HAS GIVEN US HAS A INTENDED PURPOSE IN MIND: VS 11
It is clear in the bible that we must do this together, and doing it together will no doubt bring proper glory to GOD...Ro 15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Since Jesus Christ is the full manifestation of the Father, for he said he that hath seen me hath seen the Father... since this church is about him, since the gospel is about him it would stand to reason that what we do in the kingdom of GOD is to bring honor and glory through him to our heavenly Father...
This is so:
(1.) God is glorified through Christ because of who he is:
He is God’s own gift to us: Jn 3-16
He is God’s only begotten son: John 3-16
He is God: I Tim 3-16
He is the only saviour: Acts 4-12
He is the head of all things: Col 2-10
He is has the pre-immence in all things:
(2.) God is glorified through Christ Because of his great work on our behalf:
Jesus said: Joh 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. This he did for us. Joh 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
It is clear that the death of Christ was to glorify the Father: 1Jo 3:16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
This work on our behalf is a finished work: John 19-30
This work on our behalf is a favored work: Matt 26:28
This work on our behalf is a fruitful work: Rev 1-5
This work on our behalf has a present and future work to it: Heb 9-24-John 14-3

(3.) God is glorified through Christ because of the position Christ presently holds:
He is seated at the right hand of God: Heb 12-2
He is mediating for his people: Heb 12-24
He is ruling and reigning both in heaven and earth:
1Pe 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
He is saving souls:
Mt 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
We are living proof this morning, we are saved, and we know it, we adore him, we worship... We have record that he saved three thousand on the day of Pentecost, we know that later over four thousand was saved, we have record of him saving souls that he saved after he went back to heaven..
Acts 8- The Ethiopian
Acts 9- Saul of Tarsus
Acts 16- Lydia and the jailer.
Christ is in the saving business and this glorifies the Father. Are those here today that Jesus has saved then profess him right where you are at, and then come and share that with us, I will meet you here if you come...
